Crisis Prevention Institute Training

Learned decision-making skills that match the level of the response to the risk of the crisis, focusing on the least-restrictive response to ensure the Care, Welfare, Safety, and Security℠ of those in my care.

This includes recognizing the stages of an escalating crisis and learning evidence-based techniques to appropriately de-escalate.

Picture Exchange Communication System

The PECS teaching protocol is based on B.F. Skinner’s book, Verbal Behavior, and broad spectrum applied behavior analysis. Specific prompting and reinforcement strategies that will lead to independent communication are used throughout the protocol. The protocol also includes systematic error correction procedures to promote learning if an error occurs. Verbal prompts are not used, thus building immediate initiation and avoiding prompt dependency.

Social Stories

Social Stories are a social learning tool that supports the safe and meaningful exchange of information between parents, professionals, and people with autism of all ages. The people who develop Social Stories are referred to as Authors, and they work on behalf of a child, adolescent, or adult with autism, the Audience.

Pivotal Response Treatment

PRT® targets pivotal areas of a child's development, such as motivationresponsivity to multiple cuesself-management, and social initiations. These skills are pivotal because they are the foundational behaviors upon which learners with ASD can make widespread and generalized improvements in many other areas. By targeting these critical behaviors, PRT® results in widespread, collateral improvements in communication, social, and behavioral domains.

Anat Baniel Method
